    [edit] Early life

Harry Judd was born in Chelmsford, in Essex, England. Judd is the youngest of three children, he has a brother named Thomas and a sister named Katherine. As a young boy, he enjoyed playing cricket, and riding a tractor around the family estate. He was educated first at OBH and then afterwards at Uppingham School, which was also attended by ex-Busted member Charlie Simpson, now lead singer with the band Fightstar. Judd's brother, Thomas, was friends with Charlie Simpson when they attended Uppingham. The public school was also attended by Stephen Fry, Johnny Vaughan and also Elliot Minor members; Ed Minton & Alex Davies

Judd started drumming at around the age of sixteen, two years before he joined McFly. According to an interview, he stated that he was self taught for a while then enlisted the help of Nick Fance. Fance later became his first drum teacher. Generally, he prefers not to sing in McFly, although when on tour he once sang a version of 'Hero' by Enrique Iglesias. He also played the drums in Busted's music video for "Crashed the Wedding" which was released in October 2003, before Island began generating the buzz around McFly.

    [edit] Personal life

Judd has many musical influences and claims his favourite are Incubus, Dashboard Confessional, Stone Sour, The Doors, Blink-182, The Used, The Beatles, Led Zeppelin and My Chemical Romance, with his all time favourite song being 'Hey Jude'. He has three tattoos, including the words "a tattoo" on his wrist, "bare" on his foot , meaning bare foot(The rest of mcfly have tattoos similar to this), and a small star imprinted on his wrist. Judd lived together with the rest of the McFly bandmembers for two years before they moved to two separate flats in 2005, where the band lived two members per flat for a matter of months, when bandmate Tom Fletcher announced that he would be moving into a house. Judd then bought a house in the same road as Fletcher, Danny Jones and Dougie Poynter.[citation needed]

Judd trained in England to run the 2008 London Marathon in support of Teenage Cancer Trust and BIRT (Brain Injury Rehabilitation Trust). When the band took a couple of months off in Australia, he continued his training and encouragement of fans to donate through his website. He completed the run in just under 4 hours.

    [edit] McFly

Judd is the drummer in pop group McFly and has been playing the drums since the age of sixteen. According to an interview, he originally wanted to play the guitar but got bored of playing 'nursery rhymes'. After the drummer in a friend's band left, he took up the instrument. As well as drums he can play the trumpet. He also took piano lessons but claims that "he was not very good". In March 2006, Judd participated in Sport Relief's 'All Out For India', where a team of celebrities travelled to India as part of a cricket team in order to help raise money for children.

Judd has also helped co-write several songs on the various McFly albums. These songs include: "Met This Girl" (Room on the Third Floor), "She Falls Asleep" (Wonderland) and "Little Joanna" for (Motion In The Ocean). Judd describes himself as being thrown in at the deep end with lyric writing on the first album as he had never done it before but also describes it as being 'refreshing'.

    [edit] Television and Film Appearances

In January 2005, McFly guest-starred in an episode of the long-running British drama series Casualty. In May 2006, they starred in the teen comedy film Just My Luck with Lindsay Lohan and Chris Pine, which was released in the US on 12 May 2006 and in the UK on 30 June 2006. They played themselves in the film and the soundtrack featured a variety of their songs from their first two albums. The band also recorded another song, 'Just My Luck', which was to be included on the US-only album release of the same name. McFly held a concert at the London Hammersmith Apollo on 19 May 2005 which was used in the film. The UK premiere of the film took place on 28 June 2006 in London. Judd has been rumoured to have dated Lindsay Lohan whilst recording the movie. However Lohan's reps denied this and said that it was just a publicity stunt. Judd insists that it was just a fling.[2] Most recently, Judd appeared on Phill Jupitus' team on Never Mind the Buzzcocks, a BBC pop quiz.
